At the Reiki Institute, we aim to provide the opportunity for children to learn and use Reiki within their lives and as an integral part of their growth.  It is a well-established fact that children are like ‘sponges’ and have the ability to absorb huge amounts of information at a young age.  We feel that by teaching children about Reiki and by raising their awareness and acceptance of their spiritual growth as well as their mental and physical maturing, we provide them with an invaluable tool.

It has been our experience that children who have learnt Reiki at an early age have been able to adapt to change and the possible difficulties of ‘growing up.’  Not just difficulties within themselves, but in many cases, where external problems such as divorce, abuse and learning difficulties have played a part.

We, like so many others, believe children should be children.  Unfortunately, in our society, many children choose or are forced to ‘grow up’ prematurely, missing the wondrousness of childhood.  That is why our teaching of Reiki to children is kept fun, visual and to a level that is suitable for a child’s needs. 

We are often asked whether the concept of Reiki and the ideas surrounding it are too much of an adult concept for a child to comprehend.  To this, we can only reply through our experience, which has repeatedly shown us that the majority of children embrace Reiki into their lives.

The ideal age for a child student is between 7-10 years old.  However, attunements can be carried out on children of all ages.
 
Although clichéd, ‘Children are our future’ and we believe that in providing a tool to allow the youth of today to channel some of their energy and to explore alternative views, this can only promote more rounded and well equipped individuals for our future generation.
